This is the traditional salt used in Hawaii to season. It is all natural and rich in the trace minerals found in sea water. It has also been used for centuries in many of the traditional Hawaiian ceremonies. Valuable minerals enrich the salt and make it even healthier. It is milder than most table salts and it combines with soups and sauces well. Alaea is wonderful for grilling meats – red clay seals in moisture and adds flavour. Try mixing the coarse salt with herbs and use it as a spice rub.
